Motorcycles due to their small size are all ready fuel efficient vehicles. The addition of an electric drivetrain seems ideal considering how little energy will need to be stored on board.

Enthusiasts have already demonstrated very powerful electric motorcycles, such as the Killacycle which uses A123 lithium-ion batteries and can go form 0 to 60 in less than a second.

Now Honda who is a leading manufacturer of motorcycles has vowed to put an electric version on the road in a bout two years.

In a year-end speech, Honda's CEO Takeo Fukui said:

Honda is currently developing a battery-powered electric motorcycle which emits no CO2 during operation, because the characteristics of a battery can be better utilized in the area of motorcycles, which are often used for short distance travel. Honda is aiming to introduce this electric motorcycle to the market about two years from now.
