The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is a one-of-a-kind vehicle, the sole plug-in hybrid minivan offered for sale in North America.

Its early months were plagued by a powertrain recall for a potentially faulty diode within the power inverter module.

Now, the Pacifica Hybrid is back on sale in its second model year, and the minivan with 33 miles of electric range has some new support from familiar faces.

DON'T MISS: 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid sales have resumed after recall

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced a new ad partnership with both Sesame Street and actor Dax Shepard to support the 2018 Pacifica Hybrid.

The ads began to appear across social and digital media channels on September 27, including the one in the video above.

Titled "It's Electric," the spot features the Two-Headed Monster and Big Bird alongside Shepard, and explains the Pacifica's plug-in hybrid powertrain in the most basic terms.

The hybrid minivan features a 3.6-liter V-6 engine paired with two electric motors, powered by a 16-kilowatt-hour battery pack.

While the Two-Headed Monster debates whether they need gasoline or an electric charging station, Shepard reveals the Pacifica Hybrid can use both to power the vehicle.

Light-hearted humor fills the ad, which explicitly mentions the Pacifica Hybrid's EPA-estimated electric range of 33 miles.

In addition to its first Sesame Street ad, Chrysler also created 10 videos for parents, which can be viewed through Chrysler's social media channels.

Despite the initially shaky rollout, FCA said interest in the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid remains quite strong.

However, the company has not released sales figures for the plug-in hybrid minivan.

The fact that buyers are eligible for a full $7,500 federal tax credit will likely help the Pacifica Hybrid's sales, since that brings its post-incentive price close to the conventional version.

California buyers also receive a $1,500 purchase rebate, plus a "Green Sticker" that gives access to that state's highway carpool lanes.

While Sesame Street works to increase awareness of its green minivan, FCA's future will involve more electrified vehicles.

As European makers start to reassess their diesel plans, however, it's no longer clear that diesels can play as large a role in meeting FCA's corporate average fuel-economy requirements as the company may have thought.

FCA plans to electrify more cars as it renews its vehicle lineup in coming years. The hybrid Pacifica likely won't be alone as the company's sole electrified offering, with other hybrids planned for 2019 or later.

While FCA had traditionally been pessimistic over electrification—CEO Sergio Marchionne famously urged shoppers not to buy the Fiat 500e because each one lost the company money—it is slowly embracing the inevitable.
