Hyundai has been making strides over the years in quality, design and value dollar for dollar. In fact, with the release of the Genesis and Genesis Coupe, Hyundai has a car for just about every kind of consumer—and they all come standard with 10/100,000 year/mile warranty. However, the one thing that is missing from the line-up is a hybrid or some special “green” vehicle. This is where the new 2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue comes into the picture.

The 2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue is meant to offer a boost to the standard car’s fuel efficiency through a menagerie of technical changes. These changes are good for 26/35 mpg city/hwy, which is up 2 mpg from the 2009 entry level Elantra. Basically, the magic is in the five-speed manual only transmission, lower-friction engine internals, new gear ratios, new programming for the engine-management system, altered alternator and, of course, the ever popular shift light (how ‘80s Escort of them). So you to can be “green” in your blue Elantra and starting at an MSRP of $14,865.

Bottom line—it isn’t a hybrid, but if you are looking for cheap and dependable, then Blue may just be the color for you.
