It's getting close to the weekend, so it's time to round up a few silly less formal Toyota Prius posts.

First on our list is a delightful recipe for "Prius Pork," taken from Manifold Destiny: The One! The Only! Guide to Cooking on Your Car Engine! by Chris Maynard and Bill Scheller. Engine-block cooking has a long and honorable place in American culture, though the high-strength plastic engine shields in today's modern cars have admittedly made it harder to reach the good, hot places on your engine. We even once traveled in a car (not a Prius) that was plumbed to deliver hot water for tea through a tap on the dashboard ... but that's another story.

Truth to be told, the recipe page is mostly about the Prius and its place in culture. We're impressed that the author manages to wrap into the discussion not only Japanese car-naming practices, but Larry David, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Grandma Duck. Wow.

Toward the end, there's a set of instructions that translates down to: Make a simple marinade, add pork, seal well, and then cook for 60 to 75 miles on your engine. The author does helpfully point out that the gasoline engine in a Prius is on the left as you open the hood.

The recipe comes as a response to our earlier item, "Hungry? Your Prius Can Help". It was flagged for us by reader PortlandHSD who (we surmise) operates the Portland Hybrid Synergy Drive Meetup group. We do luv us our Prius fans!
