2009 Toyota Corolla

Finding out that your car has been stolen is probably one of the worst feelings you can have as a car owner, especially if it gets stolen while you our out and about. The good news is that some cars just aren’t popular cars to steal. The bad news is that the cars that are popular to steal seem to be the ones that the majority of people can afford. It is no surprise that Toyota and Honda both make the top ten since both car companies are known for their quality and reliability over a long period of time.

The newest car on the top ten and arguably one of Toyota’s best sellers, the 2009 Toyota Corolla, has be marked as the tenth most stolen car on the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s list of top ten most stolen cars in the U.S. Anyone who owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla and is reading this is getting that sinking feeling in their stomach. There was another Toyota that ranked higher, 3rd most stolen, that most people wouldn’t have believed. The 1991 Toyota Camry beats out its newer cousin, quite a surprise given that those cars are now 19 years old.

The most stolen car in the U.S., according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau is the 1994 Honda Accord. Honda also takes the 2nd spot with the 1995 Honda Civic and their close cousin Acura takes home the 8th spot with the 1994 Acura Integra. Just goes to show that the truth is stranger than fiction. The agency reports that 97,655 vehicles have been stolen and not recovered in 2010 alone. It is speculated that most of these unrecovered vehicles end up in chop shops and sold for parts.
